In spring 2005, a dear friend of mine proposed me to realise a sound performance inside his apartment in Torino, which he was about to leave soon after to move abroad. It was a place we both felt very close, since it had been crucial for the growth of our friendship.
The place itself, and the particular occasion, brought me to create some confidential and fragile tracks, based on sound materials belonging to my own intimacy: some songs picked up from my records collection, sounds and field recordings taken over the years... The focus of the piece 'Concertino per suoni sparsi' was the recording – expressly realized – of a child's voice, reading a passage from 'Mr. Palomar' by Italo Calvino: "Mr. Palomar decides that from now on he will act as if he were dead, to see how the world gets along without him..."
The audio publication is the documentation of the performance; I decided to make an environmental recording, in order to catch the dialogue between sounds and setting.
